BISHOUJO SENSHI SAILOR MOON
THE ANIME
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon is a magical girl story about a school girl who has the power to transform into a sailor soldier. She and her friends fight to save the Earth from destruction by evil forces. This anime has five seasons and three movies. It was based on the manga of the same name created by Takeuchi Naoko. The manga consists of 18 tankubon. Takeuchi Naoko has also written Codename: Sailor V, which is the manga that led to the creation of Sailor Moon. Codename: Sailor V has 3 tankubon. Most of this is based on the TV series, though some facts from the movies will be there as well. In this section, you will notice that I only mention the English names (I prefer the Japanese names) and I refuse to use the word "Scouts". This is the only time you will see it in this section. For the rest of the time, they shall be called Senshi (soldier in Japanese, also what they are called Japanese).

Sailor Moon
The Sailor Moon series was pretty good. It's a nice way to introduce the series, though this was not the first Sailor Moon season I watched. There's lots of action, and the characters are well developed. There's plenty of humor, especially that which involves Usagi and Mamoru, who are almost always fighting each other. I really didn't like the dubbing all that much, though. They cut out episodes and parts of episodes, combined episodes, and it was bothersome. Usagi's voice was kind of annoying; however, Mamoru had a pretty good voice, as did Rei. I don't really remember the other character's voices, so they couldn't have been too bad. I despised not having the original Japanese music throughout the show. I also didn't like the way that DIC "adapted" the opening theme. The original lyrics for Moonlight Densetsu are so much better than the lyrics DIC used. So, in summary, the original series was good; the DIC "adapted" dubbed version... stunk.
Sailor Moon R
Like the original Sailor Moon season, Sailor Moon R was good. This was also the first season of Sailor Moon that I watched. I began with the second storyline, and eventually I was hooked (mostly because of the relationships between Usagi, Mamoru, and Chibi Usa). This started my entire obsession with anime and manga, and everything else Japanese. I started looking up all the information I could find on Sailor Moon, and this showed me how much better the original Japanese version was to the DIC dub. Anyway, once again, I didn't really like the dub, especially since they cut out episodes, and certain parts of episodes. I wanted to hear the original Japanese music, or at least the background music, not the DIC created music. Also, the voices again, and Rini's voice was the most annoying of them all. I didn't like the fact that they cut out the original background for the ending theme, and they didn't even play the right music for the ending. Instead, it was all DIC created stuff. So, again, the original Japanese version was good; the DIC "adapted" version did not compare.
Sailor Moon S
Sailor Moon S was really good. I love the Outer Senshi, and I was glad to be able to actually see them on television. I had read quite a bit about them, and had loved their characters even before I actually watched them on screen. But, enough of that. The Outers weren't the only good thing about this season. The plot was great; humor, action, romance, it was all there. Also, the dubbing wasn't too bad. Cloverway did a pretty good job. I don't like the cousin thing between Haruka and Michiru, but it's better than some of the alternatives, and it was expected. I liked how they left in the original BGM, and I'm so glad that they left out the DIC created lyrics for Moonlight Densetsu. Also, at least one of the vocal songs in this season was never translated; it was actually sung in Japanese in the dub, which was pretty cool. The voices weren't that great, though. Usagi's voice was even more annoying, though you could almost get used to it. Mamoru's voice also wasn't as good, but it wasn't too bad. Ami's voice really went downhill. It became almost as bad as Usagi's, and she originally had a pretty good voice. I think Rini got a better voice, however, even though it was still pretty annoying. At least she sounded as if she was a little kid. The other voices were still pretty good. Anyway, the original was fantastic, and the Cloverway dub wasn't too bad.
Sailor Moon SuperS
Sailor Moon SuperS was good. It's very cute and all, so you kind of have to be in a certain mood to watch it, because sometimes it's just a massive overload of cuteness. Plot wise, it was pretty good. Unfortunately, the cuteness could get on your nerves. Also, where are the Outers? They didn't appear in this season. They should have, but they didn't. The season was still pretty good though. As far as dubbing goes, it wasn't too bad. Again, same voices, same problems, but it was bearable. 'Elios sounded too old to be Rini's potential boyfriend, but other than that, there were no problems with his voice. I really despised Diana's voice. It was way too high pitched, and I am still wondering what the casting director was thinking. Aside from that, however, the voices were alright. Cloverway continued using the original music, which was good. It was sort of surprising on the choice of voices for Fish's eye. The person was female, but in the first couple of epeisodes, Fish's eye could have been doing a falsetto. Also, some of Fish's eye's scenes weren't as cut as they could have been, such as the scene where Fish's eye is trying on the different designs with the fashion designer. So, all in all, it wasn't too bad, and, of course, the original was good.
