TENCHI MUYO!

THE ANIME

Tenchi Muyo! is an anime about a teenage boy, who, through a strange series of circumstances, manages to have six alien women live with him, his father, and his grandfather. These women have fallen in love with the boy, and this story recounts their adventures and antics. There are three seasons for this anime. This anime actually is divided up into three different storylines, which causes three different universes. Each of the storylines is covered by a different season. The OVA universe is different from the First TV Series universe (though these two are slightly similar), and the Second TV Series universe is completely different from the other two. There are also three movies for this anime, and each movie corresponds to a different universe. The first movie goes with the First TV Series, the second movie goes with the OVA storyline, and the third movie goes with the Second TV Series. There is a manga as well, which follows the OVA storyline. I'm not certain how many tankubon have been created, but I do know that there are quite a few. Also, Magical Girl Pretty Sammy is a spinoff from this anime.

Characters

*Note: Almost all of the characters have to be described three times, because they are different in each of the universes. The universe that the character is in is next to the character's name.*

Sasami (OVA)

Sasami is the second princess of Jurai. She is the younger sister of Aeka, and Yosho's half sister. She is approximately 711 years old, and she has spent about 700 of those years searching for her half-brother with Aeka. She is the one who originally frees Tenchi after Aeka captures both him and Ryoko. She did this because she was bored, and she only freed him on the condition that he play a game with her. As soon as he was free, she requested that he take the her sister's tiara. She, however, did not mention the fact that Aeka always wore the tiara, even while sleeping. Sasami did have fun with this game, until Aeka reprimanded her for freeing the prisoner. However, this game also gave Aeka interesting information, since Tenchi was able to take Tenchi-ken from Aeka. All of this led to the release of Ryoko, which brought about the destruction of Ryuoh, and caused Aeka and Sasami to be stranded on Earth.

After being stranded on Earth, Sasami finds herself in an interesting position. Because so many people are living with the Masaki's, Sasami decides to help out around the house with all of the chores. She ends up doing all of the cooking, as well as doing some additional cleaning. However, none of this bothers her, and she becomes friends with everyone, though the people she respects the most are Aeka, her sister, and Tenchi, who becomes like an older brother to her. Unfortunately, though everyone in the Masaki household loves her, Sasami still has problems she has trouble dealing with. The largest of her problems is the fact that she believes she is a clone of Tsunami, as a result of an accident that happened during Ryoko's attack on Jurai. For 700 years, she kept this a secret from Aeka, and was afraid that everyone would dislike her if they ever found out. She was relieved to discover that the two most important people in her life, Tenchi and Aeka, liked her the way she was, and did not care if she was a clone of Tsunami or not.
